PTSD & CPT

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a manual-based therapy that helps patients to challenge and modify their distressing thoughts relating to the traumatic event. Although it was initially developed for sexual violence victims, CPT has also been proven effective among veterans, adolescent and adult survivors of childhood abuse, and other trauma types. My PhD thesis will focus on assessing the feasibility and efficacy of a modified version of CPT for alleviating PTSD symptoms.

Trauma & Culture

During my masters, I collaborated on a transnational project with Dr.Sumithra Raghavan to examine the role of culture in resilience among trauma survivors. Among our many findings, Asian participants expressed high resilience and positive spiritual coping compared to other ethnic groups. I continued this study for my master’s thesis, developing an in-depth analysis on how religiosity impacts trauma responses.
